Government Affairs Council

History: Created 40 years ago, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is the premier Chamber serving the entire Barrington Area. Our Mission is to promote a dynamic business environment for the benefit of a vibrant business community by serving, representing, and advocating for business.

Who We Are: The Barrington Are Chamber of Commerce is a not for profit 501c(6) membership-driven organization funded by over 750 members uniting hundreds of business and professional firms- a powerful reference to business, government, education and service.

The Chamber members are a diverse Group of over 275 classifications located in Barrington and 22 surrounding communities. The membership believes that active participation in the political process assures that the voice of business is heard.

Improving Barrington Government: Government actions often have a significant impact on the business community. BACC does not take stands on critical issues, who will represent members’ views on the area’s business climate and economic growth? The Division of Government Affairs shall Utilizes the Chamber’s resources to influence governmental decisions.

The Chamber shall continuously foster working relationships with legislators, administrators and their staffs through invitations to Chamber functions and regular meetings with officials. The Chamber shall continuously communicate its pro-business position to the general public as well as to elected officials. The Chamber is committed to improving our local and state governments by electing leaders that understand the need to improve our economy and free the entrepreneurial spirit.

Political Education: The Chamber strives to educate voters about positions that candidates take on issues affecting our economy. Chamber members are kept up to date on the opportunities to support pro-business candidates in there area. Chamber members are provided voting records, candidate questionnaires and other information to help them and their employees cast educated votes in elections. Affiliations: The Chamber shall maintain an affiliation with other organizations as a resource for our members: Illinois State Chamber, Illinois P.A.C., Illinois Retail Merchant’s Association, Illinois Manufacturer’s Association, SHRM, and the US Chamber.
