ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the Chamber will be accomplished on behalf of the business community, particularly Chamber members by providing direct services by representing members on matters that affect them, and by directing member resources toward community issues that are of importance to them.

The Chamber is a voluntary organization of the business community committed to:

• Expand, attract, retain business to serve needs of Barrington area;
• Provide leadership for business community to improve community services and quality of life;
• Represent and voice business point of view on important legislative and community issues affecting the business climate;
• Conduct membership services designed to benefit Barrington businesses and expand member involvement in Chamber.

The Chamber is a private, non-profit organization. It unites hundreds of business and professional firms, thus creating a community link that works together to improve the business environment and sustain a high quality of life for the residents of the Barrington area.

The Chamber is involved in programs and activities that are broader in scope than any other single business, industry, or government entity. Chamber programs can be most effectively accomplished through active involvement of its members through its business development divisions and committees.

The process of divisions and committees provides a constant communication from members on “key” issues affecting business and community by the process adopted by the Board of Directors:

• The Chamber Directors representing the various business sectors identifying issues;
• • The Chamber Directors prioritizes the issues and does a check & balance to assure that the issues match the Chamber’s mission;
• Committees are formed with community volunteers who address the issues and report back to the Chamber
